Corydoras tukano, a new species of Corydoradine catfish from the Rio Tiquié, upper Rio Negro basin, Brazil |
by Allan James |
Hoplisoma tukano
In this paper Hoplisoma weitzmani (formerly Corydoras) is also mentioned as similar with the differences cited as C. tukano having a dusky saddle between the dorsal and adipose fins, the second trunk blotch extending vertically from the adipose fin base to the anal fin base and also the presence of four stripes in the caudal fin. Image by Author Update: Placed in Lineage 6 which has always been classified as Corydoras (Lacépède, 1803) so a new genus would need to be described and a new type species when a new revision is carried out. As of the latest revision (Dias et al 2024) Corydoras tukano has now been placed in Lineage 9 and has the new genus name of Hoplisoma.
