Description:
Dorsal spines (total): 2; Dorsal soft rays (total):
7; Anal soft rays: 15 - 17. This bagrid has been moved
to the Tachysurus genera from Pseudobagrus
and on most online sources the genera of Pseudobagrus
is still listed as valid. Etymology:
The genus name of Tachysurus: tachys, swift;
oura, tail, referring to the presumed agility of T.
sinensis based on its “long and nimble”
tail (translation). The specific name of crassilabris:
brevis, short; caudatus, tailed, referring to shorter
caudal peduncle compared to T. emarginatus.
Remarks:
The taxonomy of this genus is unclear and many authorities
treat it as a junior synonym of Tachysurus.
