Etymology:
The genus name of Tachysurus: tachys, swift;
oura, tail, referring to the presumed agility of T.
sinensis based on its “long and nimble”
tail (translation). The specific name of pratti:
in honour of naturalist
Antwerp Edgar Pratt (1852-1924), who collected type.Remarks:
Still found in some online sources as Pseudobagrus
pratti.
