was in the 1980s and 90s. Description:
Dorsal spines (total): 1; Dorsal soft rays (total):
6 - 8; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 8 - 10. Differentiated
in having serrations of posterior borders of pectoral
spine restricted to proximal half of spine, and parapophyses
of fourth free vertebra reduced, separated from each
other, and not fused into haemal arch. Lineage:
Included in Lineage 8 (sub-clade 2) with the "intermediate
long-snouts" with deeper bodies. As
of the latest update Corydoras difluviatilis
has now been placed in Lineage 8 sub clade 2 and has
the new genus name of Brochis (Dias et al
2024).Aquarium
Care: This is akin to most of this genus,
very peaceful, and would be best housed with small
to medium tank mates such as Tetras, Rasboras and
Danios or in a species tank for breeding purposes.
Diet: A good quality flake food and
tablet food for adults with sporadic feedings of frozen
or live food will keep your Corydoras in
good health. Etymology: The specific
name difluviatilis: di– (Gr. prefix),
from dýo, two; fluviatilis, Latin for “of
a river,” referring to its occurrence in two
major drainage basins (Paraná and São
Francisco) in Brazil. Remarks:
