Similar to Corydoras pastazensis which was considered a subspecies as Corydoras pastazensis orcesi Weitzman & Nijssen, 1970. It was raised to species level by Isbrücker in the publication, Breeding Corydoradine Catfishes, Ian A.M. Fuller 2001. The first thumbnail picture by Image Contributor, Hans-Georg Evers, is the paratype (remaining specimens after holotype has been selected), which is held in the Zoological Museum of Amsterdam. Lineage: Placed in Lineage 1. When there is a revision they will stay as Corydoras (Lacépède, 1803) with the type species of C. geoffroy La Cépède, 1803. Aquarium Care: As this is one of the longer snouted species it will be well suited to most community tanks. A well planted tank with a soft substrate such as sand so they can bury their snouts while searching out food. Diet: Readily accepts a mixed and varied diet which includes granular foods, tablet food, frozen bloodworm and a good quality flake. |
