The genera Ancistomus
has been reserected again on the latest paper by Armbruster
et al. (2015). Peckoltia feldbergae, Hemiancistrus
micrommatos, Ancistrus snethlageae,
Hemiancistrus spilomma, and Hemiancistrus
spinosissimus have all been transfered into this
genus.The former name of Hemiancistrus
spilomma is now moved into Ancistomus.
Ancistomus sp. L387 is one of the more attractively
marked Ancistomus in the hobby. Was imported
with Hemiancistrus
sp. (L147).
In some literature it is called Peckoltia
and is among the smaller Ancistomus species.
The Peckoltia/Ancistomus genera possess a
medium sized mouth with the same amount of teeth in
the lower and upper jaw. The lower end of the caudal
fin is usually oblique and only slightly indented.
Sexual differences: Adult males are
territorial towards each other, and an be told apart
from the females by their bigger, broader head and
more excessive odontodal growth. Aquarium
Care: In the aquarium L387 is an easy species
to keep, is an omnivore, and should be fed a various
diet and kept under normal good conditions with good
water hygiene. Should be kept at slightly higher temperatures
and have a requirement for a higher oxygen intake.
Diet: Omnivores, easy to feed with
frozen and live foods and also tablet and flake food.
