Member of the Hypostomus
cochliodon group. Similar to the Hypostomus
species group but has a shorter body and is more high
backed. Small number of spatulate teeth with a single
cusp. The halves of the jaw are arranged in a v-form.
Sexual Differences: Males are larger
and have longer fins. Aquarium Care:
This group grow large and are belligerent towards
other large Loracariids. Need many water changes due
to the waste that they procure. Diet:
Wood eaters. Can be fed food tablets with a wood component,
pieces of fresh and seasoned wood and vegetable food.
