Information:
There are only two species
in this genera. L. griseus and L. petleyi
from the Amazon, Tocantins and Parnaíba River
basins.This latter species was recently
removed from the synonymy of Limatulichthys griseus
by Isbrücker (2001).As with
closely related genera, males show a hypertrophied
development of the lips suggesting that this species
is a lip brooder. Aquarium Care:
Fairly easy to keep in the aquarium with a sand substrate
being the preferred option for substrate. A large
aquarium of 4ft (120cm) or over is called for. Provide
plenty of hiding places as this genera are quite shy.
Diet: Standard aquarium fare of soaked
flake and tablet foods.
