Description: Dorsal spines (total): 2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7; Anal soft rays: 6; Vertebrae: 28. Aquarium Care: Treat as with all members of the Hypoptopomatinae such as the Otocinclus/Parotocinclus genera with a planted aquarium and an overall cooler temperature. Diet: Omnivore: algae, tablet foods, flake and small frozen foods. Etymology: dialeukos, from the Greek dialeukos, means marked with white, in reference to the white or light cream colour of the cheek. A noun in apposition. Remarks: There are now 6 species (2021) in this relatevely new genera, Otothyropsis alicula, O. biamnicus, O. marapoama, O. piribebuy, O. polyodon and O. dialeukos. |
