Description:
They differ as having 1/6 soft dorsal rays, eye with
a free border, vertebrae: 37 (16+21) and 8 branchiostegal
rays. Habitat: Euchilichthys
geuntheri has been found in the Lower and Central
Congo River basin up to the Wagenia Falls (Stanley
Falls) in Kisangani, including Pool Malebo (Stanley
Pool), the Dja River (Cameroon) and the Pone River
(Kwango basin, Angola). It has also been recorded
from the Chambezi system, This species is known from
upper Congo River basin, Angola. Not very often encountered
in the trade. Like the Chiloglanis species
they possess a sucking disc on the mouth. Reproduction:A demersal, oviparous species, in which distinct
pairing occurs during breeding. Aquarium Care:
The care of this genus would be the same as the various
Chiloglanis species and should be provided with
hiding places such as pipes/tubes or crevices to hide
in. Peaceful and nocturnal species. Diet:
Vegetable food such as algae tablets, flake and tablet
food and live/frozen foods such as Daphnia
and Tubifex. Remarks:
In the Red List of Threatened Species this species
is widespread or without major threats throughout
the Central Africa assessment region and is assessed
as Least Concern.
