Luciopimelodus pati
is the only recognised species in this genus.
Habitat: This is a large riverine species
that resides alone in this genera and is found in
rivers, mostly in turbid and deep waters with moderate
current. Frequently caught on line in the lower reaches
of the rivers. Aquarium Care: Needs
cooler temperatures and is really too large for your
average aquarium. Best to be kept alone in a very
large unheated tank by aquarists who are knowledgeable
in keeping large catfish. Diet: Carnivorous.
In the aquarium feed earthworms, pellets, raw prawn,
mussel, white fish chunks and lance fish. Only feed
2 to 3 times per week.
