Aquarium Care:
Propimelodus sp. are a bit more delicate
than the Pimelodus genera and as such they
need a good filtration in the tanks and also large
weekly water changes. Diet: They
will eat earthworms, bloodworms, lance fish. Feed
two to three times a week (Grant, S. 2021). Etymology:
The genus name of Propimelodus, pro-, before,
suggesting the primitive condition of its trigeminofacial
foramen relative to Pimelodus. The specific
name of caesius, Latin for blue grey, referring
to its “attractive bluish life colour”.
Remarks:
Despite the little information available on this species,
it has a wide range and no apparent threats. Therefore,
it is assessed as Least Concern (IUCN 2023).
