Aquarium Care:
Propimelodus sp. are a bit more delicate
than the Pimelodus genera and as such they
need a good filtration in the tanks and also large
weekly water changes. Diet: They
will eat earthworms, bloodworms, lance fish. Feed
two to three times a week (Grant, S. 2021). Etymology:
The genus name of pro-, before, suggesting the primitive
condition of its trigeminofacial foramen relative
to Pimelodus. The specific name of eigenmanni is in
honour of Dr.Carl H.Eigenmann, Professor of Ichthyology
in Indiana (1863-1927).
