Formerly
in the Bagridae family the Rita genera
now have there own family. They occur in South
Asia: Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh,
northern Myanmar and western Thailand. The
vast majority of this family are predators so
they should not be kept with small fishes. There
are at the moment (2024), 7 species in the Rita
genus.
